“Under the Influence” seems like a story about the causes and the effects of alcohol, and what it does to families and relationships. The impacts of being under the influence seems to effect a lot of families even after the user has passed. The father seems to be there living as he wants but doesn’t seem to help the family out. The family doesn’t seem to be fond of how he acts especially when he drinks. I wonder if he is aware of that or is wiling to change his actions, it is obviously affecting the family in a negative way. The authors point of view shows that childhood has really changed because of the alcoholic father. The story discusses religion and places and that seems to resonate with the writer. And lastly, the writer talks about how grieving the father and his actions, his life and the experiences he faced during his life with a father under the influence.
